The rapid rise in crime in the last decade is forcing governments and companies to adopt new, comprehensive measures to protect themselves. In particular the explosion in data-processing, communication systems and technologies demands special measures to safeguard corporate success.
Corporate Defence is an organisation's programme for self-protection. It must be based on careful 'threat assessment', and should consist of an integrated system of counter-measures designed to balance potential loss against the human and monetary costs of its implementation. Saladin has the ability and the experience to advise companies on both how to organise their Corporate Defence policy and to help them implement it from Board level, through senior and middle management to the shop floor where applicable.
Saladin assists companies by:
- Building security into the design stage of new projects. For example in the construction of new buildings and facilities or the expansion of activities into new overseas markets.
- Contingency planning for potential crises at home and abroad.
- Maintaining close liaison with all national and local security agencies, to keep abreast of overall threat levels, and to prepare for rapid response in times of crisis.
- Advising on problems in connection with militant groups within the company and its operating areas; assessing the effects of such groups on the business; carrying out surveillance and discreet personal vetting.
- Validating current internal and external security procedures.
- Assessing external security firms, providing reports on their strengths, weaknesses and suitability for a specific brief.
- Contributing to corporate strategies through the provision of the Corporate Defence dimension.
- Advising on business plans and procedures including security surrounding research and development projects, new product and market launches, mergers and acquisitions.
- Helping in the prevention and detection of fraud.
- Investigating and identifying electronic security threats through telephones, telexes, bugging and electronic emissions. The whole range of counter-electronic surveillance is covered.
- Validating in-house equipment or procedures covering electronic security threats.
- Assessing computer security against fraud, sabotage and blackmail.
- Advising on asset protection under own and third party control.
- Advising on the security of valuables, including cash and goods in transit and in store.
- Planning the personal security of staff and families, including homes, cars, attendance at functions, travel at home and especially abroad, and the planned response at time of threat.
- Investigating and advising on the security of premises, including visitors, cars, doors and locks.
- Advising on product extortion, protecting against deliberate product damage or contamination designed to injure the corporation or its products.
- Assessing the effect of sabotage or terrorism on trading areas and manufacturing plants, and their planning, investment, loans, borrowings and sales.
- Assessing the effect of a country's counter-terrorism capabilities on corporate operations.
Saladin will combine all the above factors into a comprehensive, coherent and practical defence policy which covers every aspect of a company's functions. Saladin's Directors will act as advisors to the company's main Board, and will ensure that the Corporate Defence policy approved by that Board is implemented throughout the company. The updating of this policy by our experts, to include any new dimension, is a continuous process. This ensures that the policy remains relevant to any significant changes in threat.
